We were delighted to host the Lead Sheet Association for a combined lead and traditional hard metals seminar at our Abercorn Conference Centre, Paisley Campus.
The Lead Sheet Association is at the forefront of training and technical advice in the use of Rolled Lead Sheet in the construction industry. The Lead Sheet Association has developed training courses in lead and hard metals specifically designed to meet the needs of installers and employers.
Darren Tutt, Senior Technical Officer for Lead Sheet Association said, “The aim of both seminars was to show architects, specifiers, surveyors, tradesman and apprentices all the in’s and outs of both disciplines.”
Leadwork is a highly skilled trade and using the correct skills and materials fitted correctly it can last well in excess of 200 years. Likewise the world of traditional hard metals encompasses materials such as zinc, copper, aluminium, stainless steel and galvanised steel. Although as robust as lead if fitted correctly it requires a whole different skillset and an understanding of how the materials fit into the modern world.
Darren Tutt, said of the event, “This was the Lead Sheet Associations first foray into delivering these types of seminars away from its own base in Kent. We couldn’t have been more pleased with the support and the use of the fantastic facilities that WCS offered us. We certainly hope to be back in the near future and look forwards to collaborating with everyone again.”
This was a fantastic event which benefited all involved. Paul Lynn, Curriculum Quality Leader for Construction said “West College Scotland was pleased to host this inaugural event which enabled the Lead Sheet Association to deliver knowledge transfer away from it base in Kent”.
Paul highlighted the opportunities for additional training to the West College Scotland students commenting:
This event coincided with the delivery of the Lead Sheet Associations Lead Bossing and Welding Course which reinforced our onsite delivery to our students and introduced them to the availability of Sheet metal training which has an emerging presence within construction in Scotland.
