Taking place last week, the Renfrewshire Employability Awards celebrated the success of employees and employers in Renfrewshire. Representatives of The Renfrewshire Council and Invest in Renfrewshire were delighted to recognise the achievements of trainees, apprentices, new starters and entrepreneurs who participate in making economic growth happen in the area.
It was a fantastic evening for us, as two of our students won an Award.
Steven McFadyen, who has just completed a Modern Apprenticeship Level 3 in Life Sciences at the College, won the Apprentice of the Year Award.
36-year old chef, Steven successfully changed career to life sciences by completing an MA and is now Senior Scientific Manufacturing Technician for Thermo Fisher Scientific at Inchinnann. To find out more and get inspired by his success story, read further here.
Lesley Ann McKellar, currently undertaking a SVQ in Childcare at the College, won the Best Trainee Award. Lesley is training with Hugh Smiley Nursery in Paisley. The Renfrewshire Council, who runs the nursery, was delighted to recognise Lesley’s efforts, attitude and quality of work.
Congratulations to both of them! We’re always delighted to see the efforts and commitments of our students recognised. It’s the second year in a row that one of our students wins the Apprentice of the Year Award and we’re looking forward to pursuing this trend.
