With Scotland boasting some of the best experts that the health and beauty industry have to offer, from stylists to experts in technology, the emerging talent and the industry have never been stronger.
Professionals from across the industry graced the red carpet as they celebrated the inaugural Look Awards at Glasgow’s Radisson Blu Hotel.
The awards which are designed to create a platform for the hair and beauty sector to demonstrate how their work, salon, business strategies and services are making an impressive contribution to the hair and beauty industry, saw guests treated to a champagne reception before enjoying a night of entertainment and awards spanning a total of 21 categories.
The culmination of the night was the much anticipated Outstanding Achievement award which was presented to West College Scotland for the Athletes Salon during the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Creative and Services Industries Assistant Principal, Angel Pignatelli commented, “West College Scotland are delighted to have been judged the winner of the Outstanding Contribution of the Year category at The Look Awards at the weekend.
“This is an external validation of the achievements of our students and staff at a time in education where relevance to industry standards and the importance of employability skills could not be more heightened. Our primary focus in the curriculum is on transferrable, employability skills in a live setting as far as possible; running the Commonwealth Games Salon ensured our students had full exposure to and immersion in this.
“We’d like to thank everyone involved in the project who showed immense hard work and dedication resulting in a lasting legacy and to also thanks to The Herald for this prestigious Award”
