On Saturday 31st October, we were delighted to host the Quarterly meeting of the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering (CIPHE), welcoming around 30 members and guests of the Institute at our Paisley Campus.
Allan McIntosh (left in the picture opposite), Past President of CIPHE, was present at the event, coming all the way from Aberdeen to present the College with its Approved Training Centre Certificate. Allan said: “It is my great honour to present West College Scotland with their Approved Training Centre plaque, as this proves a commitment to new entrants to the plumbing industry.”
Andrew Fogarty (right in the picture opposite), WCS Head of Sector – Energy and Engineering, was reciprocally honoured to welcome Allan at the College’s Institute of Construction and Engineering (ICE) and to receive the Certificate. Andrew said:
We’re the first College in the West Region and the second one in the whole of Scotland to become a CIPHE Approved Training Centre. This is a fantastic recognition of our continuous efforts to develop and deliver training meeting the highest standards and the industry’s evolving needs.
During the event, two of our Engineering Lecturers, Paul Lynn (left in the picture below) and Harry Hunter (right in the picture below), were also presented with their CIPHE Master Plumber ties and congratulated on attaining their Fellow status within the Chartered Institute.
These awards attest to their excellence in the industry and we’re delighted for them to have received such prestigious recognitions of their hard work. Allan McIntosh said:
The presentation of the official Master Plumber tie is of a particular significance as these ties cannot be bought and are required to be earned through a lifetime of training, assessment and commitment to the art of Plumbing.
To conclude the meeting, invitees were given a tour of the ICE workshops. Members of the College staff were very pleased to present our training capacity to the CIPHE members and guests.
