Jennifer Macfarlane has already had great feedback, only a few weeks into her new role. Jennifer’s manager Judith Stewart is Studio Manager at Bobbi Brown’s Silverburn outlet, and has nothing but kind works for her newest member of staff.
“I feel very confident in Jennifer – she has a great ability to give clients lessons and looks of their choice. She has a great way with customers, and is always keen to learn and improve! Jennifer is working really well and has quickly become a valuable member of our team at Silverburn.”
For Jennifer, 19 years old and from Paisley, the experience she has gained at College and in her new role has been invaluable.
“I have learned so much from all my lecturers and class mates. I love learning about make-up and the different skills you need to become a great make-up artist. You can never stop learning or gaining more knowledge as it is such a fast paced business, and being at West College Scotland has shown me this in great detail.”
Meanwhile, fellow student Kay Davidson, also 19 and from Paisley, is using the skills learned at the College to succeed in the workplace too.
“As a result of studying Make-up Artistry I feel I have not only progressed as an artist but as a person. I am constantly learning, whether it be through my lecturers or my peers. This industry never stops growing – it challenges and drives me to become my best self. This is not only a career path but a passion I get to express through my work, and West College Scotland has allowed me to do just that.”
Louise Jardine is Manager at Bobbi Brown, and has been very impressed by Kay’s skill.
“Kay has recently joined Bobbi Brown and she has shown great enthusiasm since starting. Her makeup artistry skills are already fantastic - she is a quietly confident individual with a patient nature that is proving a success with clients. As retail manager it is my role to strengthen her sales skills, and Kay is soaking up every ounce of knowledge I pass onto her.”
Louise has always been impressed by the standard of students coming out of the College.
“During my 10 years with Bobbi Brown I have employed several past students all who have gone on to further their careers in the makeup industry. Though they often start off as slightly nervous but talented individuals, with coaching and training in selling skills they’ve come out of their shells to become confident makeup artists and sales people. The quality of students I have been in contact with from West College Scotland has been very high - the level of artistry is also quite astounding.”
Both Jennifer and Kay have been studying at the Greenock campus for the last two years, and are due to complete their studies next year, with a HND in Fashion Make-Up.
