We’re delighted to announce that one of our first female painting and decorating apprentice, Chloe MacDonald, was chosen as the winner of the 14 to 18 year old age category. Chloe, who’s from Clydebank, has shown interest in the trade at an early age. At 16 years old, she went on a work placement with Baxter & Gillespie - one of Scotland’s leading painting contractors based in Clydebank. This led Chloe to embark on an apprenticeship in June of this year. |
Harry Jones, WCS Clydebank Campus Construction Curriculum Quality Leader, says:
Chloe is currently attending a Modern Apprentice programme at our Campus. She’s doing excellent work with all her course assignments at the College and also with her employer on site. We’re delighted that she has received this well-deserved award.
In the report Chloe has submitted for the award, she explains how her success in gaining employment has changed her life and shares her passion for the construction work she’s now involved in.
Action for Children Glasgow conjointly received a special award for their ongoing work in giving opportunities to disadvantaged young people to train for the construction industry, including Chloe who has joined Action for Children at the age of 15.
