Held at the Paisley Town Hall last Friday, the event recognised, celebrated and honoured the achievements and tireless endeavours undertaken each and every day by ‘ordinary’ people in sports communities throughout Renfrewshire who are passionate about sport.
We were delighted for our students to be involved – and they were equally thrilled to take part in this celebration. 14 of our HND Dance students (pictured above) performed a flash mob and then a commercial house piece before dinner. Our graduate music student Fraser MacPherson played guitar during the drinks reception.
Our students' brilliant performance received a warm welcome from the public and was acclaimed by the event’s organiser. Mairi Cotter, Sponsorship & Events Manager at Newsquest Scotland, said:
West College Scotland HND Dance students truly brought their A game to the Renfrewshire Community Sport Awards in association with Renfrewshire Leisure. From the outset Gillian [Gillian Desjacques, WCS Dance & Music Curriculum Quality Leader] was delighted for the students to be involved. The students were extremely easy to work with showing passion, skill and dedication to ensure the performance was the best they could deliver. Having the students involved certainly gave the awards a flair of excitement!
