We’re always delighted to welcome students from different backgrounds and with different profiles in our classes. This makes the learning experience even better for all our students and helps promote diversity.

This year, the class of Plumbing apprentices at our Greenock Campus is a great blend. We’re happy to welcome one of our former Paisley campus students as well as a passionate female plumber.

David Smith _Greenock Apprentice Plumber

David Smith, from Barrhead, graduated from the NPA Construction: Plumbing and Building Maintenance Skills course at our Paisley Campus. With the support of the College and SNIPEF, he found employment as an apprentice plumber at RMC Plumbers in Johnstone. He’s now working there when he’s not training at our Greenock Campus. We’re delighted that David was able to benefit from the cross-campus collaboration happening at the College.
Blair Martin _Greenock Apprentice Plumber

Blair Martin, from Neilston, is employed by East Renfrewshire Council. She is the first girl ever apprentice plumber at our Greenock Campus and we really hope she’s the first of many to come! Blair wishes to inspire more females to get into construction, a trade she’s passionate about, “I love the practical and hard work. It allows me to push myself and show that girls can do it too. I’ve been interested in construction since I was little and I started following courses in this field at only 14. It’s really a passion and I hope more girls can see what a great job it is and get into this field.”
