Science Modern Apprentice Amanda crowned ‘Top Apprentice’ at the 3rd Annual Invest in Renfrewshire Employability Awards
The Aiming Higher Awards which took place on Wednesday 15 June brought local movers and shakers out in force to celebrate the economic and employment success and progress of those participating in the Invest in Renfrewshire programme. Amongst the nine finalists was our very own, recently appointed Science Technician Amanda Allan.

Amanda is leading the Mini Game Jam, a challenge where local secondary school pupils create games using Scratch – a programming language and online community where you can create your own interactive stories, games, and animations.

For their graded unit, our HNC Games development students had to design a game on a predefined theme: Scotland. After 10 weeks of programming, development, design and fine-tuning, last Wednesday was THE big day! The games were being tested by very challenging judges: primary school pupils.

A supersonic experience of science and engineering
After weeks of engineering, building and testing their own Model Rocket Cars, hundreds of school pupils from all across Scotland will race on the 9th of June at the Glasgow Science Centre. Mark the date and come to share the supersonic experience!
