West College Scotland is delighted to showcase a selection of Glasgow’s leading professionals in Hairdressing, Barbering, Beauty and Make up at their inaugural Creative Exposure Event.

The event which takes place on Monday 20 August at the Drygate Brewery from 11-7pm will highlight an exciting mix of hair, beauty and makeup masterclass demos, pop up shops and treatment bars from a wide range of industry professionals.

Karen Stevenson, Head of Sector for Hairdressing, Beauty and Make-up Artistry tells us why this event is so special. She says, ‘Within West College Scotland, the Sector of Hairdressing, Beauty and Make-up Artistry is redesigning it's curriculum. The venture is called Rip it up and Start Again.

This is a truly unique event; one in which Further Education is coming together with top icons of industry. The public, students and school pupils will get the opportunity to see and hear from the very best.’

The event is geared up to be a stimulating showcase of live hair, beauty and make up masterclass demonstrations from award winning and prominent Glasgow artists and stylists. It’ll will be welcoming Bridal Make-up Artist Leigh Blaney; Creative Director of Glasgow’s leading salon, James Hughes of Alchemy Creative Collective; barbering demos from Aaron Michaels and House Martin Barbers; Film & TV Prosthetics Make-up Specialist Raymond McArthur; Ralph Yates & the Basement 20 team demonstrating UNITE Hair; Senior Stylist & Colour Technician Maxine McArthur of HOB Salons, amongst others still to be announced!

Beauty and Hair experts Sweetsquared, Louella Belle and the Wella Generation Now Team will be on hand to talk about latest industry tips and tricks, and our experienced college therapists will be demonstrating how to give the perfect CACI facial treatment.

Creative Exposure visitors will be able to try new products, one-to-one consultations and stock up for their businesses at discounted rates from our award winning industry partners’ pop up shops. We are delighted to welcome Crownbrush UK Ltd, LabelM, Wella, Fakebake, Nars, Dermalogica, Urban Decay, Kat von D and Portavadie Spa amongst a range of salons & industry professionals who will be on hand to provide industry advice and showcase their extensive product ranges.

Not only that but visitors can pamper themselves at one of our many Exposure Treatment Bars, which will offer treatments for Brows, Nails, Massage, Make-up and Dry Hair. We will also be showcasing some of West College Scotland’s creative talent in body painting, nail art and make-up prosthetics.

Karen added, ‘We are open to change. We want to hear what our industry needs from us to help shape the workforce of the future. We want to hear how our students want to learn, when they want to learn, and make it work for them. This is an exciting time for us, a chance to shape the future of learning.’
