The My Place Photography Competition supported by Historic Environment Scotland, is a built environment photographic project for school-aged young people throughout Scotland. It allows them to express their thoughts, experiences and perspectives on the heritage, buildings and archaeology around them.
The Glennifer High School students who attend the College to study Higher Photography as part of the Schools Vocational Programme, were presented with their certificates at an awards ceremony at the Lighthouse Glasgow on Wednesday 21 March.

Thrilled to see his students work recognised in this way, Robert Tabor, Curriculum and Quality Leader for Photography at the colleges Paisley campus commented, “We are delighted to see the creativity of our students being recognised.
These are prestigious awards with over 500 entrants from every part of Scotland so to see the students do so well is really thrilling.
Seventeen year old Amy who won the Secondary School category for her photograph ‘Wildlife' commented, “I’m really enjoying the Higher Photography course at college and working on a project like this was a great experience.
‘I was so surprised and delighted that my picture had been chosen. This award gives me the confidence to keep following my passion and makes me feel like I can make my mark as a photographer.”

Nicholas Waterson- Boyd was crowned winner of the Young Persons Choice award for his photograph ‘Isolation’.
Judge Glen Mills, Scotland Urban Past Forum commented, “This photograph encapsulates the intimacy between the individual and his urban heritage. The paradox of solitude and collectiveness is poignant and highlights the social aspects of intense urbanisation. The photo beautifully blends the lurid colours of the built environment with the natural colour of the snow and skyline.”

Encouraged by his win, Nicholas said, “I was so surprised my image was chosen. It gives me so much confidence to do more.”
