The Savoy Educational Trust has awarded the College £22,658. These funds will be invested in restaurant software for our Clydebank and Greenock training restaurants, and the creation of an accessible workstation in our Paisley campus.
The software will be the Maitre’D electronic point of sale system, which is becoming standard across modern professional kitchens and restaurants. Our employer partners have highlighted to us that working with this kind of software is a key skill that we need to equip our students with to prepare them for modern industry practices. The college had already invested in this software on our Paisley campus, and we are delighted to be able to extend the benefits to students across our locations.
The accessible workstation will involve the creation of bespoke, adapted units, which will enable students who use wheelchairs or have other mobility-restricting disabilities to participate fully in Hospitality courses.
Hannah Wilson, Development Funding Executive, said: ‘This is a huge boost for our Hospitality sector, and we are grateful to The Savoy Educational Trust for their generous support.’
Jim McAllister, Head of Sector for Hospitality, said:
Thanks to the grant we will be able to improve our student’s employability skills using industry-level technology, enhance our facilities across all campuses of West College Scotland and widen access to our local and wider communities
