They are intended to recognise individuals who are outstanding in their field or who have made an exceptional contribution to the life of the College, and who would make great ambassadors.
One of the fellowships has been awarded to Nicole Percival, former Student Association President, who made a huge impact during her time in post. Her many achievements include helping to develop a Student Mental Health Strategy which she signed with the Principal on behalf of the Association. Nicole improved the profile and enhanced the role of the SA and she and her team were worthy winners of the NUS's annual Officer Team of the Year award in March 2019. A Greenock woman, Nicole accepted her Fellowship at our ceremony in the Town Hall on Wednesday, 25 September.
Speaking to Nicole about the award she said, “I was quite surprised to receive this award as I just seen it as my job, but it’s really nice to be recognised in this special way.
It shows recognition to the work that myself and the team done and the barriers that we had to overcome to achieve our goals.
‘I loved my role as Student President. We have such a diverse student body and I enjoyed getting to know the different students that I was lucky enough to meet and make a positive impact on their student journey.
‘Being Student President definitely came with its challenges but that’s what made the job all the more rewarding when you were able to overcome these.
I’ve grown a lot through this role. I’ve developed a range of skills that I can take forward in my future career and I’ve proved to myself that I can do anything that I put my mind to. It’s been a fantastic experience.
