It was celebrations all round for West College Scotland at the College Development Network Awards this week as the College scooped two of the prestigious awards and received a Highly Commended Recognition for in a third category.
The awards saw WCS come up against Colleges across the sector to compete for the distinguished recognition. The online event which was held on Thursday 3rd December, saw the audience being treated to a fabulous virtual evening hosted by actress and comedian Elaine C Smith.
The College was delighted to receive recognition in all 3 categories that they were shortlisted for.
Firstly the Essential Skills team took home the top award for the Essential Skills category for their work in partnership with Renfrewshire Council on the YES Programme which aims to help those with significant barriers to education or employment such as individuals with historical and current criminal convictions, those who have experienced the criminal justice system or those affected by homelessness.
Another fantastic win was achieved in the Health Promoting College category. This award was received for the College’s innovative strategic approach to health and wellbeing. The submission recognized the College’s Health & Wellbeing programme throughout this academic year which has seen a calendar of invaluable support, development and community activity.
Finally, our Marketing Team were awarded a Highly Commended in the Marketing and Communications category for their publication of the Home Working Times, an internal communications response to the Coronavirus outbreak.
