DESIGN-BRIEF-REVIEW-2.jpg

The project, which was aimed at generating new concepts and thinking into design solutions for the new Flex 72, each student was allocated a themes spring/summer/winter/autumn and had to install a design feature of an Art Panel or Contemporary Fabric. They looked at different ways that they could design an interior solution for their own selected customers.

Colin Taylor, Founder and Director Neat living, is amazed at the work produced under such exceptional circumstances:

"On behalf of Neat Living, I'd like to extend our thanks to all of the students who took part in this year's project. I'd like to mention that every year we see a high standard for work from the class under normal conditions and yet all of you have had to find a way of managing your studies which were finished during exceptionally difficult circumstances. This wasn't an additional layer of challenge you needed, so to see the excellent work across the class is a tribute to each of your efforts. It was fantastic to learn that many of you have been offered places at leading Universities to continue your studies. Many congratulations to all of you."

Mhairi-Claire Wilkies, Interior Design HLM Architects, echoes this with her praise for the exceptional standard on display in this years competition:

"The students went the extra mile to fulfill the brief and to create amazing living spaces for their clients. The standard of HND Interior work is always high at WCS but this year the students have really excelled with their technical and rendering skills. It’s been a joy to work so closely with them this year and its clear they all have bright futures ahead!.”

Lecturer for HND Interior & Graphic Design, Lola Paterson, is delighted at how the project has helped her students gain valuable experience:

This has been an incredible opportunity to create a collaboration project with Neat Living Team and Mhairi-Claire Wilkies Interior Designer at HLM Architects and very proud to say one of our alumni’s. Our designers have responded with an excellent professional standard of work. This experience contributes greatly to them articulating onto university or future employment and showcasing their work. This year we have the highest articulation route success to date.
