The College's 'Mini Game Jam’ has been running since 2013 and with a short break due to recent restrictions, we are planning on bringing it back this year with a few modifications to allow everyone to participate again and have fun creating games. At the same time coding clubs have seen a move to more online activities.
This year, we hope that schools can start to get clubs back up and running again either at lunch or after-school and we would love to help get you started on your path whether you need a refresher, are totally brand new to coding clubs or simply want to get some more ideas for your own club you already run.
The sessions are aimed at those who want to run clubs in primary schools (more suited for P5-P7) however these could be of benefit to S1-3 as well.
At the end of the year we will be holding a Mini Game Jam event for schools to participate in – generally aimed at P7’s and used as part of transition however if the pupils have been part of a club we can accommodate them also. It will be run virtually in order to enable more children across Scotland to take part.
You don’t have to participate in the Game Jam though to take part in the CPD/clubs and vice versa.
The plan is to run the sessions on the following dates for teachers through teams online normally 7-8pm. With a view to teachers getting clubs set up whenever they are comfortable enough, possibly after Christmas. Once the clubs are up and running, we will also be offering 4 virtual sessions to look at different aspects of the Games Industry with a chance for children to ask questions and find out more about future careers.
