The money has allowed the College to provide additional resources to seventy-two students, college-wide, across three departments, to support them in their final stages of study to move on into employment and build a career in their chosen vocational area.
Students from Hairdressing received electrical hair equipment, with students from Hospitality receiving industry standard knife-sets and PPE and Motor Vehicle students being given tool kits.
Morven Aikman, Curriculum Quality Leader, Hairdressing and Make up Artistry at Clydebank, said, “The students will really benefit from this as it will enable them to carry out work, they wouldn’t normally be able to do unless they purchased additional equipment themselves.”
Head of Hospitality, Tourism, Languages and Business, Jim McAllister, said, “As the Hospitality Industry begins to re-build our students are in great demand, some have recently been selected to work in establishments that are re-opening across our region which is very exciting for them.
The support, and ‘tools’ that this provides our students, of the John Mather Award is just what they need to help them prepare for this new chapter in their careers.”
Patrick McGroarty, Curriculum Quality Leader in Automotive Engineering at Clydebank, said,
The tool kit will make a huge difference to his students entering their profession”
The students were extremely grateful to receive their equipment which will help provided a much-needed head start in the preparation for their new careers.
The College is thrilled that further funding has been secured for the next cohort of students on completion of their course in June 2022.
