Students were treated to an in-depth demonstration from the range of facial brands & products available instore including high end brands such as La Mer, Elemis and Sunday Riley, along with industry hints and tips to get the most of the product ranges available.
After this followed a Makeup Demonstration from one of the experienced Harrods Artists where the students were shown a variety of brands and industry tools.
A discussion on key trends and recruitment providing the students with essential knowledge to help them within their course, build industry kit and provide them with information on possible progression routes into industry following completion of their course.
HNC Fashion Student Katie McNair, 17 from Paisley said, “I had a really good day at the event, everyone working there was really helpful and welcoming. I learned so much about makeup techniques, the importance of good skincare and about career progression. I’d love to do another event like this again.”
Sarah Sinclair, 21 from Clydebank studying HNC Makeup Artistry said “I really enjoyed this event as it has taught me new skills, product information and industry tips & techniques. It was very professional and the people were lovely and friendly. I’d love to attend something similar in the future”
Curriculum Enhancement Lecturer, Caroline Grehan-Dunn said, “The Artists within Harrods Beauty were very enthusiastic, approachable and very knowledgeable. The students found the event very inspirational and it was also a great team building day with the groups from different campuses.”
The students were treated to a Goody bag and discount within the store to use towards building their professional kits. The department is looking forward to building on this exciting collaboration with Harrods Beauty in the future.
