They worked alongside renowned British artist Jamie Reid - who is best known for his work with ‘The Sex Pistols’ including the Cecil Beaton Silver Jubilee portrait of the Queen with a safety pin through her nose.
The two-day workshop was an immersive experience bringing together local community groups to create original collage artwork, in many cases it was the first piece of artwork participants had ever created. To celebrate everyone’s work an exhibition took place in The Florrie at the end of the event showcasing the 3x3x3 Analogue artwork.
Billy commented “We had such a great time working with the local community and Jamie; we were blown-away by the participants and the standard of work that they created. The end of workshop exhibition looked fabulous”.
The Florrie in Liverpool has been at the heart of the local community for over 130 years, offering a wide range of activities, events and services. Jamie Reid said, “It was such a lovely experience having Lola and Billy down to the Florrie to deliver art/graphics workshops with the local community . . .
The collaboration between Paisley (WCS) and Liverpool (The Florrie) is a very exciting one, and I’m looking forward to doing more in the future.
Talking about her experience Lola commented: “To have the opportunity to deliver the 3X3X3 analogue collage workshop and engage with British artist Jamie Reid was a real highlight of my professional practice as a designer. The opportunities The Florrie provide for the local community open valuable access to the Creative Industry. This is an important collaboration for The Florrie and West College Scotland to build and develop on a great partnership”.
The event proved to be a huge success, Tim Tierney (Community Hub Co-ordinator) said,
