The partnership between the West Dunbartonshire school, which supports children and young people with additional support needs and our Clydebank Motor Vehicle department has been running for several years, engaging the young people in similar exciting learning projects.

Each year the group select a theme which aims to capture the imagination of the students, and in previous years the project has produced final transformations of a Batmobile car and a Star Wars themed car to name just a few.

At the start of this term, Lecturer Jeff Cairns came up with the idea of choosing everyone’s childhood favourite locomotive, Thomas the Tank Engine as the focus for this years project.

Jeff was assisted by technician and lecturer, Anthony Canavan who took over mid-way through as Jeff took early retirement, assisted by learning assistant Carol (surname), who accompanies the students each week on their visits to our Clydebank campus.

Anthony said,

"A huge well done to the students of Kilpatrick School in completing their Thomas The Tank Engine project within the Motor Vehicle department. Their creativity and efforts have paid off and I believe the end result shows how much they have put into it."
