Iain Shand

Now in its seventh year, the awards recognise and celebrate the achievements of stand-out individuals and organisation in the world of Scottish Cyber Security.

Nominated for Educator of the Year for his work on the Cyberfirst project, which aims to inspire and encourage students from all backgrounds to consider a career in cyber security.

Iain commented, “I have taken the project a bit further and in conjunction with West College Scotland, Education Scotland, National Cyber Security Centre and schools we are offering guaranteed places on HNC Cyber courses to pupils coming from CyberFirst schools, and so it offers a pipeline from school to a degree in Cyber Security.

‘I think the CyberFirst project is one of the most exciting things to happen in FE in years.

The opportunity it gives young people and the talent pipeline it provides industry is unique.

'The fact it’s not solely a college project or an Education Scotland project, it’s a joint College/School/Education Scotland/NCSC partnership project that makes it work.

I am honoured to be nominated for this award.

Huge congratulations to Iain and we wish him luck at the awards which will be hosted at the end of November.
