West College Scotland’s HND Makeup Artistry & Hairdressing students showcased not only their talent and creativity but their community spirit through the organisation of their recent "Glam Your Mam" event. Held as part of their coursework unit on Contributing to the Organisation of a Promotional Event, the students offered pampering sessions including hair and makeup for mothers, daughters, friends, and clients. The vouchers which were sold to tie in with Mother’s Day earlier this year treated participants to a makeover session courtesy of our talented students in which they raised funds for Women’s Aid South Lanarkshire and East Renfrewshire. Just under £500 was raised from the events which took place over 4 dates last month at our Paisley campus.

After getting their hair and make up done, attendees were treated to an indulgent afternoon tea, courtesy of the college’s Hospitality students before heading to Moya Studios for a glamorous photoshoot with our HND Photography students. Additionally, each guest received a delightful goody bag full of products kindly donated by Hair & Beauty World.

 Lecturer Nicky Magee, who oversaw the event, expressed gratitude to all involved saying,

“This was a great example of cross college collaboration in order to not only offer a great day out to the participants celebrating the special women in their lives but also raising money for a much needed local cause in our community.”
