These awards celebrate the remarkable talent, innovation, and achievements demonstrated by Scotland's colleges, their staff, and their learners.
Marking its 25th anniversary this year, The 2024 CDN College Awards received a record-breaking 163 submissions from colleges across the country, showcasing the exceptional work being undertaken in further education. West College Scotland is honoured to be recognised amongst these outstanding submissions and shortlisted for four awards in the following categories:
- Innovation Award: Recognised for the "Bettii Pod" partnership which developed an innovative product, the world’s first menstrual cup washer and sanitiser for away-from-home cubicles.
- Lecturer of the Year for Science Lecturer, Suzanne Thompson who has been instrumental in leading the pioneering Diploma in Pharmacy which has significantly impacted the training of over 200 NHS technical apprentices across Scotland.
- Skills Development Award for the Sports Analyst Programme in partnership with Kilmarnock FC which combines inspirational approaches to developing career enhancing skills in the sports and fitness industry alongside meta skills to increase employability.
- Marketing and Communications Award: The "#WeAreWest Student Takeovers" campaign has been recognised for its innovative approach in engaging students and the wider community through creative social media strategies.
These nominations reflect West College Scotland’s ongoing commitment to excellence, innovation, and community engagement. The winners of the CDN College Awards 2024 will be announced at a ceremony held at Glasgow’s Radisson Blu Hotel in Glasgow on Thursday 14 November.
