West was delighted to receive funding from the Good Things Foundation between December 2024 and February 2025. This funding enabled the college to acquire and distribute over 20 digital devices to students at the Ferguslie Learning Centre and ESOL students at the Clydebank campus.

The Good Things Foundation is dedicated to creating positive social change by enhancing digital skills, ensuring that everyone can confidently and safely navigate the digital world for a better quality of life.

The newly acquired devices have now been distributed to students who previously lacked access to suitable technology.

Alison Stevenson, a student at Ferguslie, expressed her gratitude:

This is great! It will help me with my classwork, assist my kids with their homework, and support my role as a facilitator at a local women’s group. Having a Chromebook will be a huge help. Thank you.

A Clydebank ESOL student also shared their enthusiasm:

“It will help my studies. I can use My English Lab and watch films to improve my English. Thank you!”

Kathleen Brown, Administrator at Ferguslie Learning Centre, extended her thanks to the Good Things Foundation for providing these valuable devices to community learners. She emphasised their significance in supporting coursework, research, job searches, and family assistance. She noted:

Many learners have never had access to a laptop due to financial constraints, making these devices an essential resource. With more services moving online, especially since the Covid pandemic, these devices help bridge the digital divide, enabling students to access information and apply for jobs more easily.

West College Scotland’s Ferguslie Learning Centre, based in Renfrewshire, plays a vital role in helping students gain qualifications, enhance their employability skills, and build confidence, ultimately making a positive impact on their lives.
