What will I learn?

Train to become a fully skilled backstage professional with our two-year HNC/HND Technical Theatre programme.  In Year 1, you’ll develop strong practical skills across lighting, sound, stage management, and set & props work.  Continue into Year 2 to take these skills to an advanced, industry-ready level – or exit after HNC if that suits your path.  With hands-on production experience and expert training, our graduates are equipped for exciting technical roles in theatre, live event, concerts, film, TV and beyond.

  • Scenic Art
  • Stage Design

Work experience will also be part of the course.

What qualifications do I need?

You'll need to have successfully completed the HNC Technical Theatre

What can I do after?

A technical theatre education can lead to various roles in the entertainment industry, including stage management, lighting or sound design, set construction, or costume design. Skills gained in technical theatre can be transferable to related fields like film production, concert staging and event management.

After successfully completing this course, you'll have the skills needed to get an entry level role in the entertainment industry working as a technician.

Or you could develop your skills further by studying another course, such as:

  • A degree in production arts
  • A degree in technical theatre
