Choosing to study technical theatre offers a unique and rewarding path for individuals interested in blending creativity with technical expertise.

Technical theatre is highly experiential. Students engage in hands-on learning from the start, working with lighting, sound equipment, set design, costumes, and more. This practical training prepares them for real-world theatre environments, allowing them to see the immediate impact of their work in live productions.

Students work closely with directors, performers, and other technical teams, learning how to communicate and solve problems together. This teaches valuable teamwork and leadership skills.

A technical theatre education can lead to various roles in the entertainment industry, including stage management, lighting or sound design, set construction, or costume design. Skills gained in technical theatre can be transferable to related fields like film production, concert staging and event management. Many of our graduates work in the following areas; Cruise ships/West End productions/ Arena work/Edinburgh Fringe and International Festival/Music festivals/ and many more pathways. We have a good collaboration with The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland to take progression to BA Courses.

Overall, studying technical theatre is ideal for those who are passionate about the arts, enjoy collaboration, and want to play a crucial role in the creative process behind live productions. It offers a fulfilling career path where you can blend creativity, craftsmanship, and technology in an industry that values innovation and dedication.
