Overview

What will I learn?

This short Full time August start course is designed build on your current Barbering skills and allow you to develop within the college barbering salon environment and industry. The 16 week programme will equip you with the skills and knowledge required to develop your existing practical barbering skills preparing you for the next stage of your learning journey to advanced barbering.

The course will provide you with a range of units identified by industry partners as key skills required at this stage of learning. The course will allow you deveop your customer communication, interpersonal skills and prepare you for working in Industry alongside gaining relevant practical barbering techniques:

  • Cut Facial Hair
  • Cut and Clipper Hair using barbering techniques
  • Shampoo, Condition and treat hair and scalp
  • Dry,style and finish hair using barbering techniques
  • Work Experience
  • Commercial Salon

What qualifications do I need?

Previously achieved Hairdressing or barbering at L4 and L5 NPA Barbering/Hairdressing.

A strong desire and keen interest in Barbering is essential

This course requires all applicants to be 16+ years

You will be required to attend 9 hrs per week minimum within a Barbers/Salon

What can I do after?

You will gain a collection of SQA SVQ Level 2 units in Barbering and on completion of this course you can move to industry as a trainee Barber OR continue your training in Barbering completing SVQ Level 3 Advanced Barbering skills (January – June).
