Interior Architecture & Architectural Design
Overview
What will I learn?
You'll learn about:
- Creating a portfolio of your work
- Working with live clients
- How the interiors of building are used and experienced
- Design processes
- How to develop a project from research and concept development, to presenting to a client
- Sketch design
- Technical drawings
- Model making
- CAD
- Perspective drawing and rendering
- Exhibition design
- 3D computer modelling and simulated walk-through virtual environments.
You'll also take part in group work, site visits, practical demonstrations and tutorials
You will learn the full design process, including: mind-maps, research, thumbnails, roughs and final solutions. You will do this through sketchbook development and digital design, whilst finding creative solutions to given briefs. You will also get the chance to learn, develop and work with a great design team with many years teaching and industry experience who are multi-award winning.
You'll also work on a broad range of live graphic design projects based on real client briefs
What qualifications do I need?
You'll need one Higher, preferably in Art or Design, and two Nat 5/Intermediate 2 qualifications, or equivalent NC units. If you don't have the formal experience but have skills and experience, you may also apply.
For a place on the course, you'll need to attend an interview and bring a sample of your work. In the interview you'll need to show that you're really interested in taking the course and you've got a good level of creative skill.
What can I do after?
After successfully completing this course you can develop your skills further by studying another course, such as:
- HND Interior Architecture and Design
After further study, you could work in theatre design, exhibitions, display design, visual merchandising or set design.
