Lisa started out her journey at West College Scotland’s Clydebank campus as a full-time student in August 2020 when she completed our Development course. After this she successfully progressed on to the Pathways programme in August 2021 until June 2023. Whilst at college Lisa learned essential independent living skills such as cookery; IT and internet safety; volunteering, gardening and interview skills.
The courses have allowed her to build on her numeracy and communication skills and she has been able to get involved in a wide range of other exciting projects such as video production, arts and crafts, photography and science.
Our staff have loved seeing Lisa’s confidence grow during her time at West and are pleased to see her new friendships flourish. Currently Lisa is in her final year at the College on the Community course. She is a busy girl and on the days she isn’t at college she is undertaking some voluntary work at a charity shop near her home.
Lisa started college at the age of just 16 but at the time of her course completion in June 2024 she will be aged 21 and will continue to use the skills she has gained here as she intends to continue her voluntary work and take on more hours. Lisa intends to keep in touch with her classmates through social media using the digital skills she has learned during her time at college.
