Shania started out at West College Scotland in August 2015 when she enrolled on the Step 1 course at Paisley Campus. After successfully completing Step 1 she continued on her journey with our Learner Development department progressing to the Steps to Work course.
These courses provided her with the opportunity to gain some employability skills and to complete a work placement. This encouraged Shania to gain further vocational skills which she could use in a workplace.
She moved to the Hair, Beauty and Make-Up Artistry department where she did the Level 4 NQ Begin Hairdressing. However, she soon realised that this wasn’t the route she wanted to go down and so on completion she secured a place on the Level 5 NQ in Care.
This qualification enabled her to apply for her current role as a Support Worker with Capability Scotland. In this position she is working at Corseford College where she supports a number of young students, helping them to access the curriculum.
Whilst Shania has found employment and moved into the world of work she recognises the need for continuous learning and development and continues to keep her skills up to date with regular training.
