What will I learn?

This online course will provide you with an understanding of the spectrum used to define particular autistic disorders, how they can affect people and how to support those with Autism. You will also learn communication skills and techniques to encourage those with the condition to lead fulfilling lives.

This level 3 course is ideal if you wish to develop an in-depth knowledge and understanding of autism which could support your progression into employment in the health and social care or education sector.

Topics covered in this course include

  • Autism in Context
  • Positive behavioural support for individuals with autism
  • Therapeutic interventions and support available for individuals with autism and co-occurring conditions
  • Communication and social interaction with individuals with autism

This is a marked course which requires short essay style answers to allow your assigned marker to be able to identify that you have understood the skills and knowledge to meet the required standards. 

This is a fully online course and access to the materials and Assessments will be emailed to you.

What qualifications do I need?

Level 2/SL5 certificate in a related discipline. Before enrolling for this course proof of your level 2 certificate is required please email this to onlinelearning@wcs.ac.uk 

As this course is delivered online it would be beneficial if the candidate had basic competence in IT and the internet.

This course does not require a personal statement.

What can I do after?

This course provides progression to further online programmes. It is also a good course for those individuals who are interested in entering a career in the healthcare sector.
