Thirty-Two-year-old, Upper Intermediate ESOL Student Aleksander Czerniawski, talks about his course at West College Scotland and his aspirations for the future.
‘A few things attracted me to study at the College. Firstly, my cousin came here and said it was a nice place to study with nice teachers. Secondly, I know the area well as I lived there for a short time.
When talking about the course Aleks said he enjoyed coming to class.
He said, ‘My ESOL course has greatly improved my English language skills, which was very important to me. I wanted to be able to increase my job prospects and I felt it would help me gain British Citizenship. The lecturers were very nice, and you could go to them for any help. My favourite part of the course was meeting people from different countries and learn about different cultures.’
Next year Aleks is continuing his studies at our Clydebank Campus, studying HNC Business. He already has a Diploma in Transport Engineering and experience of working in factories. He said, ‘I’m familiar how the supply chain works in Engineering. I’d like to work in Management looking after Supply – so to learn the business language and legalities will be helpful. I’m looking forward to the future, but I’m very glad that I studied at West College Scotland.
Aleks advice for other students thinking about studying ESOL is simple.
He said, ‘Don’t to be scared to come to College. I worried about it, but I wish I hadn’t. I’m so glad I came, especially when I see what I’ve achieved. Go on, just give it a try!’
