Having always had a keen interest in Politics, Andrew Maxwell was keen to take his knowledge to the next level. Looking for a study option which he could complete around his external commitments, our PDA Politics evening course was perfect for Andrew. Andrew said,

 “Even from a young age I have always had an interest in politics as it is central to our everyday lives and dictates almost every aspect of it. When I was at school my favourite subject was Modern Studies and this gave me a basic grounding in understanding UK politics at the time.”

However having progressed his interest via his own personal reading and consumption of mass media, Andrew wanted to learn more; “I never extended this towards gaining a further understanding of the various ideologies in terms of what the influences were and which political gurus had informed them.” 

Speaking of his time at College, Andrew said,

“My experience of the course has been extremely positive; I have gained a knowledge and understanding of the ideologies studied and become more informed on why various politicians have chosen the path that they follow - this has been invaluable.”

Andrew felt that his interest in the subject has been further enhanced by his lecturer's natural enthusiasm for, and knowledge of, politics. When attending class students are encouraged to reflect on current political debates, news items and discussions and to consider how this compares and contrast with what they are learning within the subject. He said,

“There have been some interesting debates as a result! In conclusion I would recommend attending this course if you have an interest in politics and are keen to learn more.”
