Lecturer Janet Munn who coached and accompanied the students commented, “The competition is always a great bonding opportunity for the students, especially with some of the team events requiring the students to work together on creating a complete look.
We are really proud of the fantastic work carried out by all of the students who competed at this year’s event and are thrilled to see their creativity and hard work recognised in this way.
'The motivation and enthusiasm for next year’s competition is already extremely high, with students feeling inspired by the amount and variation of amazing work carried out by colleges across the UK.”
Teaming up for the ‘Ladies Current Trends in Hair and Make-up’ category Hairdressing student Jade Irwin and Make-up Artistry student Sophie Ambler were thrilled to see the creation awarded 2nd place. Jade commented, “Competing in two other solo categories, I wanted to challenge myself with a team event. It was great to learn from someone else’s skills.
'It was exciting to see our vision become a reality and even more exciting to be awarded second place.”
Sophie Ambler and Jade Irwin, 2nd place for Ladies Current Trends in Hair & Make-up
Sophie added, “Working alongside someone else took me out of my comfort zone but at the same time added to my confidence. I really didn’t expect to be placed at all so when we heard our names called it was amazing.
The whole experience has really boosted my confidence and given me even more drive to succeed. I’m already looking forward to next year.
First place winner for Face Painting, Julia Davie commented, “This was my first time competing at the AHT finals. I was really nervous but once I was on the floor working on my model I quickly got in the zone. It was great to see how much talent there is across the UK.
'I was really surprised to be awarded first place - having your work recognised in this way is a great feeling and a real confidence booster.”
Emily McNab, 1st place for Gender Transformation
Well done to all of our students competing in the completion.
