After excelling on the pre-apprenticeship programme, Michael and Damain successfully progressed to Modern apprenticeships with prestigious plumbing and heating contractor James Paterson and Sons, who the college is proud to partner with on delivery of the training academy. Michael was no stranger to the college when he joined the academy last year having come through the college’s schools vocational programme, completing our senior phase Introduction to Plumbing course.
Calum, who also came started at the college on our schools programme before joining the James Paterson Academy, was offered a work experience opportunity with Quality Renewables Ltd, an Inverclyde based family run business with over 40 years of experience in gas and plumbing work. They were so impressed with him during his placement that they offered him an apprenticeship with the local organisation.
Finally Dean who started at the college in August 2022 had also been offered a work experience opportunity with all trades contractor from John Brown (Strone) Ltd, who have a long standing relationship with the college for apprenticeship provision for many years at our Greenock campus. Dean also impressed enough during his place to be given the opportunity of a Modern apprenticeship position.
Curriculum Enhancement Lecturer, Lee Clark said,
“ All the Plumbing staff are very proud of our students for the effort and commitment they have put in, allowing them to progress to the next level in what will be a successful career. What makes it even better is the fact that they have taken the next part of this journey at West College Scotland to complete the college part of their apprenticeships”.
We wish them all the best in their future careers. Our 2024 intake of the James Paterson & Sons Apprenticeship Academy is now open for application.
