Overview

What will I learn?

If you are interested in working within the Criminal Justice Sector, this course is designed to provide a comprehensive introduction to the fascinating subject of Criminology and Criminal Justice.

The course considers crime and criminality from a local, national and international perspective, whilst supporting you in developing your Meta Skills.

The course explores the offender journey, criminal justice systems and social and psychological influences on crime and criminals.

The course will also equip you with important skills required to work within the sector.

What qualifications do I need?

Candidates should have studied to Intermediate 2 level or Standard Grade Credit or National 5 level or equivalent. Acceptance onto this programme will also be based on an interview and may require a written piece of work to determine suitability.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate basic numeracy and communication skills and be able to demonstrate a genuine interest in learning and furthering their education. Adult returners welcome.

What can I do after?

There are various progression routes in the Social Sciences following successful completion of the course including:

NC Social Sciences – Level 5, NC Higher Social Sciences and Criminology, NC Access to Humanities and HNC Social Sciences, depending on suitability.
